Investment objectives

Elite Equity Fund is an equity fund (minimum exposure 90%) that invests in large caps companies (min € 20 bn mkt cap) on a global scale (including emerging countries). The investment process is characterized by the selection of companies that generate high and growing dividends. Particular attention is paid to the future sustainability of dividends, also considering the impact of ESG factors.  The selection process is completed by identifying companies with high quality balance sheet assets, attractive valuations, and led by management with proven management skills. The portfolio consists of 70 equated securities. No rebalancing is and a new security may be included in the portfolio only following the sale of another security due to profit-taking or the failure of the assumptions that had led to its inclusion in the portfolio. The Fund conducts stewardship activities that include participating in votes at shareholders’ meetings of portfolio companies and promoting engagement initiatives to improve corporate practices on relevant sustainability issues.

Comment

Equity markets recorded further declines in April. Global equities were hit by the ongoing war in Ukraine, lockdowns in China, ongoing supply chain disruptions and expectations that US interest rates could rise rapidly. Economic data showed signs of weakening as inflationary pressures continued to push the Fed into a more aggressive path of rate hikes. Eurozone annual inflation reached 7.5% in April.
Sovereign bond yields have peaked in developed markets. Corporate bonds underperformed government bonds. High yield has seen the most significant spread widening, although spreads are below the highs recorded earlier this year. Emerging market bonds also posted negative returns, notably sovereign debt, while corporate credit was more resilient.
The fund did not open or increase any exposure to bonds but closed or reduced the exposure in Australia, Banco BPM Spa and Poland.
